Events and calendar
The calendar is where you create, schedule, and keep track of everything happening at your organization, from weekly services to one-time gatherings. This article covers creating events, setting up recurring ones, taking registrations, and moving around the calendar views.
Creating an event
- Open the Calendar.
- Click a date, or choose New Event.
- Enter the event details:
- Title
- Start and end date and time
- Location
- Description
- Event type
- Set any options you need, such as recurrence, registration, or a capacity limit.
- Click Create Event.
Events are grouped by type so they're easy to scan on the calendar:
| Type | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Service | Regular worship services |
| Meeting | Staff and committee meetings |
| Event | Special events and outreach |
| Class | Educational gatherings |
| Other | Anything else |
Recurring events
When something happens on a regular schedule, you don't need to create it over and over. While setting up an event, mark it as recurring and choose how often it repeats: daily, weekly, or monthly. Forge then places it on the calendar for each occurrence.
This works well for weekly services, a midweek Bible study, or a monthly meeting.
Registration and RSVP
If an event needs sign-ups, turn on registration when you create it. You can also set a capacity limit so the event closes once it's full.
Members can register for events through the member portal, view their confirmations, and cancel a registration if their plans change. You can track who has registered alongside the event.
Calendar views
The calendar offers several ways to look at what's coming up:
- Month for a wide view of the weeks ahead.
- Week for a closer look at a single week.
- Day for one day in detail.
- List for a simple agenda of upcoming events.
Switch between them depending on whether you're planning far ahead or focused on the day in front of you.
Connecting outside calendars
Forge can sync with Google Calendar and Microsoft 365, with two-way sync supported. To connect one, open Settings > Integrations, find the calendar you use, click Connect, sign in, and choose which calendars to sync. Once connected, events can flow between Forge and your everyday calendar.
Tips
- Use event types consistently so the calendar stays easy to read at a glance.
- Set up recurring events once instead of recreating them each week.
- Turn on a capacity limit for events where space is tight.
