    Search and Solomon AI

Forge gives you two fast ways to find what you need: a global search for jumping straight to a record, and Solomon, a built-in AI assistant that answers questions about your church data in plain language. Both are available to staff throughout the app.

    Global search

Global search is the quickest way to get to a specific person, gift, event, or request. You don't need to be on the right page first.

    How to use it

    1. Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) from anywhere in Forge.
    2. Start typing what you're looking for.
    3. Pick a result to jump straight to it.

Search looks across people, contributions, events, and requests. Results are grouped by type, so you can tell a person from an event at a glance. It matches on more than names — you can search by email, phone number, and notes, which helps when you only remember part of a detail.

    When to reach for it

    • You know who or what you want and just need to get there fast.
    • You remember a phone number or email but not the full name.
    • You're moving between records and don't want to navigate menu by menu.

    Solomon AI

Solomon is an AI assistant that understands your church data. Instead of building a report or remembering where a number lives, you can ask a question in everyday language and get an answer.

What it helps with day to day

    • Asking questions about your data, such as giving or attendance trends, in plain English.
    • Surfacing insights you might not have thought to look for.
    • Getting help with tasks without leaving what you're doing.

Solomon works against your live Forge data, so its answers reflect what's currently in the system rather than a stale export.

    How to ask

    1. Open Solomon from the assistant panel in Forge.
    2. Type your question the way you'd ask a colleague.
    3. Read the answer, and follow any suggested next step if it helps.

    Search or Solomon

Both save time, but they're suited to different moments:

    • Use global search when you know the specific record you want and need to get there quickly.
    • Use Solomon when you have a question rather than a destination — when you want an answer, a summary, or an insight rather than a single record.

    Tips

    • Learn the ⌘K shortcut. Once it's muscle memory, it's usually faster than navigating.
    • Phrase Solomon questions the way you'd speak them. You don't need special syntax.
    • Solomon only sees the data your role can access, so its answers stay within your permissions.

    Common questions

Does search cover everything? It covers the records you're most likely to look up — people, contributions, events, and requests — and matches on names, emails, phone numbers, and notes.

Is Solomon working from real data? Yes. Solomon queries your Forge data so answers reflect your current records.
